In Memorium Trout Fishing in America Shorty – Cardiff College of Art, October 1973
A fishing drawing – made in collaboration with an experienced fisherman – my homage to a character called, Trout Fishing in America Shorty, in a short story of the same title by Richard Brautigan. Chinese brush, black ink, paper, river stones & fishing tackle. The fisherman was asked to treat the action as if he was going out on a normal day’s fishing. To sit in a similar state of mind – patient, alert and attentive. The drawings done that day were displayed for the rest of the week on the walls of the studio space (in Cardiff College of Art).
